"Hi Friends, come over and enjoy some bread an coffee" - a common afternoon snack here in Cuenca.
The day after we arrived in Cuenca we received a text from an old friend wanting to share an afternoon with us. Little did we know, the Lord was doing some incredible things through this family.
A few months ago, they started the very first Salvation Army in Cuenca. In Spanish it is called Ejercito de Salvacion. There have been other Salvation Armies throughout Ecuador but this is the very first in Cuenca.
The salvation army is an organization near and dear to our hearts. When I (Rachel) did missions work throughout different cities we often had the privilege of partnering with them. We got to work in their recovery centers, their worship services and often were able to serve food to those in need.
Ryan also has a special place in his heart because the Salvation Army helped support his family when they were in need.
Now, we get to see them in action here in Cuenca and it is beautiful to see.
For anyone who is not familiar with the salvation army, here are a few things they do here in Cuenca. It is going to be in both spanish and english because I am sharing directly from my friend:
A parte canalizamos donaciones tanto de ropa como de víveres no peresibles.
